H2 beginners camp focuses primarily on teaching each individual player proper technique. This camp will overview all of the basic volleyball skills and dynamics. Players who are in their first few years of volleyball would greatly benefit from this camp. Goal is 5 players ½ per court.

The primary purpose for this H2 clinic is to give each player an extreme number of defensive repetitions to improve their agility, speed and accuracy in defense and passing. This clinic will also focus on the techniques involved in defense and serve receive.  Goal is 5 players ½ per court.
 
Session D
H2 Beginner Hitter/Transition Clinic(Grades 6-8 or 1^st year Players)
July 14-15 (Thu-Fri)
Evening Session 5:00 – 7:30pm

Players at this H2 clinic will focus on practicing proper hitting and blocking technique. Players will learn 3-step & 4-step approach technique, middle/slide technique & shot selection. Players will also work on the key elements of blocking. Goal is 5 players ½ per court.

H2 Advanced Skills Camp (Grades 9^th and Above + Advanced Skilled  Players)
July 25-26 (Mon- Tues)

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 3:30

H2 advanced camp is for the more experienced player. Camp coaches focus on teaching high level technique to each individual player. Campers will work on all skills including different offensive and defensive systems according to their position. The campers will be divided up on different courts according to age and skill level.  Goal is 5 players ½ per court.
 
Session 2
H2 Advanced Skills Camp (Grades 9^th and Above + Advanced Skilled  Players)
July 28-29 (Thu-Fri)

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 3:30

Players at this clinic will focus on practicing proper hitting and blocking technique. Players will learn several advanced techniques as well as different types of attack options. Players will also work on the key elements of blocking.  Goal is 5 players ½ per court.

This H2 clinic will focus on proper transition technique, 3-step and 4-step approach footwork, and Hit location. Players will be divided on courts based on ability. Players will receive a high number of swing repetitions while learning and perfecting advanced attacking skills.  Goal is 5 players ½ per court.
 

All camp sessions will be led by Geoffrey Davis, Director of H2 Saint Louis Volleyball Club & 4^th year Assistant with Washington University in St. Louis Women’s Volleyball Team. 

With only seven players (three playing out of their regular positions) H2 17 White won 1st place in the silver bracket of the Holiday Inn Classic tournament in Louisville.

Our lineup looked like total confusion but these tenacious players quickly fit into their unaccustomed positions and ended up in second place in pool play.  On day two, we went to the silver bracket and from there, the team was undefeated.  This was a hard fought battle and accomplished because seven individuals came together as one team.  It was all about the teamwork and the will to win!

 14 White faced a tough St. Louis Heat team in the championship.  After losing the first game 25-23 the team rallied to win the second game 25-21 and force a third game, which they lost.  Since H2 14 White was the only undefeated team in the championship, they had to play a 25 point tie-breaker game.   They came out on top 25-21 to win First Place in the Platinum division.  “The girls fought and never gave up.  I’m very proud of how each and every girl contributed to our win,” said Coach Schroeder.

At the moment of victory, Coach Schroeder shows that he's got a good vertical!

All 15s teams (Cardinal, Black and White)  participated in the Jaguar Classic at Fort Zumwalt West this past weekend.  All of the 15s team advanced to the gold bracket in the 16s tournament. 15s Cardinal was first in pool. 15s Black was first in pool and 15s white had a high pool finish as well. Great job ladies for a great day.

H2 14 Black placed first in Silver in the Omni Classic U14 on Sunday April 3, 2011.  H2 14 Black defeated St. Charles Explosion 14 CK in the third game of the match 15-12.

12 Black came in 2nd at the Spring Fling on March 27 at Hazelwood Central after taking it to three 3 games.  They missed out winning 1st by just 2 points!  Congratulations, Girls!

14 Power had its first medal winning tournament on Saturday, March 5!  They placed first in the Silver division at the North County Aces Classic.  Way to go 14 Power!!  Keep up the good work.

After a slow start, H2 Saint Louis 14 Cardinal collected themselves, and sang their way to the Silver Bracket Championship in the Old Settlement Tournament held in Ste. Genevieve, February 27.  “We were a bit sluggish in pool play, then began to turn things around in the first round of bracket play vs. STL Metro” says coach Kevin Adkins.  “Wow, things ramped up another notch while I was filling out the lineup sheet for the Championship match against Festus Crush, a team we lost to in pool play.  Our girls started singing and dancing, and genuinely having a great time.  It was at that point, I knew the game was on.”  14 Cardinal went on to win 25-13, 25-19.

H2 14 White broke through the ice to record its first medal win at the Rec Plex Classic, Feb. 20.  The team was seeded in first place in the Silver Bracket affording them a first round bye.  In the semifinal game 14 White won decisively over Club Vertical Black and faced a tough Insanity team for the championship.  They won the first game 25-19 and battled back from a six point deficit in the second game to win 29-27.  “It was a total team effort. Everyone fought for each and every point.  It was great to see all their hard work pay off to win their first medal,” says Paul Schroeder, coach.

Another piece of the 2011 East Central College (ECC) volleyball puzzle fell into place with the team’s second signing of Lutheran High School South senior outside hitter Katie Egart, announced ECC Head Coach Brad Bruns.   

Bruns hopes Egart can contribute right away.   “She is incredibly talented.  We’re looking for her to contribute defensively as well,” said Bruns. 

As a junior, Egart led the Lutheran South Lancers in kills with 193 while hitting .257. She also had 188 digs, 32 solo blocks, 39 block assists, 14 aces and nine assists.  That helped to land her on the AVCA Under Armor Girls High School All-America Watch List published before this season.  During her senior season, Egart led Lutheran South with 254 kills while hitting .357. She also had 31 solo blocks, 41 block assists, 83 digs, 13 assists and eight aces. Egart caught the eyes of the coaching staff last winter when she was playing with the H2 Saint Louis Volleyball Club in an event at East Central College.

“I am very excited.  I can’t wait,” Egart said.  “We are very excited to sign Katie.  She is an incredible athlete who has a very good work ethic. We are looking for her to make an immediate impact on the court,” said Bruns.

At East Central, Egart hopes to get her general education requirements done before focusing on her area of major. She also hopes to play volleyball beyond ECC. “I just want to get my general education done,” said Egart.  “Hopefully, I can get a volleyball scholarship after that. I want to study interior design or do something with kids with special needs.”

Egart said her first contact with Bruns was memorable.   “The first time I talked to Brad, I was at a tournament in Union at East Central.  I guess I was playing really good and he started talking to me about East Central and asked if I was looking anywhere for college. He gave me some information and it went from there. I ended up getting a scholarship,” said Egart

She is currently playing on the H2 Saint Louis 18 Cardinal team this season.  “Hopefully, we’ll be able to do really well this year and make it to nationals,” Egart said about her club squad.

Elvis was in the house and so was H2….Eight teams from H2 Saint Louis traveled to Memphis this past weekend to join 158 teams participating in the MLK tournament held at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.  First day results found all eight teams advancing to gold brackets!  The night was celebrated by some on Beale St, taking the trolley, riding horse drawn carriages, dancing at BB Kings and enjoying all of the fun things the great city of Memphis has to offer.  Day two ended with both 17 Black and 17 Cardinal bringing home championship trophies.  15 Cardinal finished 2nd, 18 Black finished 4th, 16 Black finished 4th, 14 Cardinal finished 5th, 15 White finished 6th and 13 Cardinal finished 9th.  Eight teams and eight gold finishes= success.  Way to go H2 athletes and coaches.  We are proud of you all.

The 17 Cardinal team coached by De’Shea McBride and Geoff Davis took home 1st place medals after competing at Southwestern Illinois College over the weekend.  After splitting with SIS VBC bright and early on their first match of the day, 17 Cardinal went the rest of the day undefeated.  The championship match was meeting SIS VBC once again but this time 17 Cardinal was wide awake, handing the wolfpack a pair of loses 25-18 and 25-10.  Congratulations 17 Cardinal!!

We will again work in groups on our teams to complete the initial sessions.  We will then complete our practical at the Mega Scrimmage on Sunday.  I am going to ask the older ages to work with the younger ages tomorrow night.  I am also going to ask the coaches to be available to assist each group with the scorekeeping summaries as well.  We will try to finish as soon as possible tomorrow night.
