The ladies of 16 Crimson had a full weekend of great volleyball to end January on a high note. On Saturday, the girls took on their toughest competition at Premier League where they faced H2 16 Cardinal, Team Momentum 16 Navy and Show Me 16 Rox. Although Saturday brought no wins to 16 Crimson, the team never stopped fighting as they pushed multiple games to a 2-point spread, including one that ended in a 28-30 loss.

Sunday brought a big challenge to 16 Crimson as they competed in the 18U H2 Under Armour Impact Tournament held at Highland Middle School. The girls started strong in pool play, taking wins from the St. Clair County Volleyball Club 17’s team as well as the Flying Jays while falling to St. Louis CYC 161, the eventual winners of the tournament. The girls moved on to playoffs where they dominated Springfield Shock 18 Black in the first round and then met H2 Columbia 17 Crimson in the semifinals. The H2 showdown was one for the books with Columbia taking the first set while 16 Crimson fought back to take the second set. The third game showed many lead changes and ties but eventually belonged to Columbia by a score of 15-11. The girls and coaches held their heads at the end of the day as they knew they held their own against older, stronger and more experienced girls and continued to improve. Next weekend rounds out the last of Premier League play on Saturday afternoon with a much deserved break on Sunday before the girls take on President’s Day weekend in Downtown St. Louis from Feb 13-15. Go H2!
