The 17’s team traveled to Ozark this weekend to attend the Club Bear 18’s tournament and came home with a championship!! Still without their normal 5-1 setter Alexa Stegemann stepped up and did an awesome job running a tough offense and hadn’t put on her setter hat since middle school. Yes that’s right I said middle school and she didn’t miss a beat. This team, still being plagued by injuries and some sickness this weekend left it all on the court during the semi final and championship games.

They came out of their 5 team pool in 2nd place only by 2 points. The girls were thankful to have Kayla Allison who did a great job through pool play and has had to miss several tournaments splitting her time with her school basketball team. The first round of bracket the girls came up against a very talented Tri County Talons 18 Gold team and won in 2 sets. During the championship game the girls defeated the 18 Gold Club Bear team also in 2 sets. These girls ended the day playing for each other and not themselves.

Kelsey Arnold stepped up like a “rock star” in bracket play and was ALL over the back row playing her libero position like a beast! Molly Kraus was shedding tears of pain hardly able to walk after the final match because she’s battling foot issues that she has to have surgery for at the end of February. She plays with all heart and her teammates followed suit this past Sunday.

Way to go girls and best of luck this coming weekend at the Lori Endicott 2 day tournament in Springfield!
