The H2 16U Navy team attended their first tournament of club season at the Center on Saturday, 1/9/16. The day began very rough taking two losses out of the gate to PLVC 161 and Rockwood Thunder – Carolina. H2 Navy found some success defeating the Hometown Hitters, finishing 3rd in pool play.

Working out the kinks of this newly formed team and playing short of a seasoned player, due to injury, H2 Navy found their stride during the playoffs. First, by defeating the Angels of the South County VB Club in 2. Then by facing a team who already beat them earlier in the day, Rockwood Thunder. H2 Navy lost the first game of the match but then fought back to win the 2nd and 3rd .

The girls’ mental toughness helped them persevere. The victory over Rockwood was a huge confidence builder for the team to move on to the Finals against St. Louis Metro. The score of game one of the finals was 19-13. The second game ended with a fight to the finish and a 24-22 win, clenching the gold medal for H2 Navy!

Way to go ladies!
