H2 Cardinal played at TESL’s March Madness tournament on 3/12/17. H2 Cardinal started pool play strong against Metro East Fire winning 1st set 19-2. Grace Malawy served 12 in a row with 5 being jump serves from the 9 year old 4th grader. The serving streak continued in 2nd set with Sara Gouy, 5th grader, serving 19 in a row to take set 19-0. Next pool play against TESL 12 black and girls were nervous facing 2 former H2 players. Girls held strong 1st set losing 15-19, then struggled 2nd set losing 7-19. After that, we couldn’t get momentum going and mental game hit us hard losing to Top Notch 13-19, 2-19. Finished 3rd in pool.

Coach Rick and Coach Patrice talked to girls letting them know they have the skills just need to keep one another up and team spirit as well. They went into Silver Championship match against TESL 12 white. Girls came back ready to play. The games went back and forth with only 4 missed serves during the long match. H2 Cardinal played hard and together to take 1st in silver winning 25-19, 28-30, 15-13.

So great to have the whole team there without illness: Zoë Byron, Chase Chrenka, Sydney Davis, Sara Gouy, Ashlyn Hauk, Mackenzie Heberer, Morgan Hogue, Jena Holder, Megan Knobeloch, Grace Malawy, Hanna Matarelli, and Julia Melosci. Just missing Coach Julie.

Glad to see this team come back and pull together as a team to take 1st place in silver championship. Back to back medal weekends. So excited to see what more this team can do. Go H2 Cardinal!
