Our girls traveled to Center Saint Louis to compete in an 18’s tournament this weekend. They faced a lot of adversity but were able to come out on top. We showed that no matter what odds are stacked against us, we have the ability to compete.
The girls swept through pool play 6-0 to give them the number one overall seed for the playoffs. We had a few injury scares and sat one of our girls through playoffs because of our upcoming qualifiers. Luckily, our great friend Mia Valleroy was attending the tournament with us and was able to sub in for the injury. Unfortunately, we lost another girl who had to go to a meeting for National Honor’s Society.
So, our girls fought their way to win losing two hitters, gaining one back, and having a DS play full rotation. We were not at our best but the girls did not make excuses for themselves. It would have been much easier to say “we would have one if everyone was here” but our girls did not take that out. We battled and only dropped one set the entire day. We finished 12-1 in sets and 6-0 in matches in an excrutiating 11 hour tournament.
Special thanks again to Mia for always being there when we need her! The girls are all appreciative when we get help from other members in the H2 family. Our girls will travel to Chicago in a week to compete in our last qualifier of the year. Here’s to a good two weeks of practice and good luck everyone!
