This was our season opener, so there were a lot of nerves coming into the tourney. The girls were able to work together to get the kinks and nervous energy out in the first game of the day, which led to undefeated pool play. They have great chemistry on and off the court. Bridgette Doran, setter, set a great tempo for our hitters to really display their talent. Jorey Luebbert (MB), Addison McCoy (OH) and Haley Kellman (OH) all had a great start to the season and ended the day with positive hitting percentages. As our confidence level increased throughout the day, I enjoyed watching our hard work in practice start to pay off. We were playing the game the way we had intended. Our offense and defense have come a long way in the last 3 weeks, especially considering this was our first competition date. Sydney Mattas (libero and co-captain) led the team defensively with 47 digs.

I am very proud of Gracie Hamrick as well. She injured her hand/wrist last week in school and still insisted on playing this weekend and did a great job and never complained once!!

I am excited by the amount of growth I have seen in these girls already and am eager to see where it takes us. Our next tournament will be February 5th in Lenexa, KS.
